Banquet:
Labneh
Hummus with chickpeas
Pickled vegetables
Bean salad
Coleslaw
Olives
Roast potatoes
Dry fried cauliflower
Lamb shoulder

A damn shame to see a former 4 fall down to a 3 like this. But it’s not their first time falling down like this. Turns out that Damascus is always good but only sometimes great. Tonight we went with the “just feed me” option, a set menu essentially, but this turned out to be something of a mistake. But that’s on them, if you’re making a set menu, then you should be putting your best foot forward.
Don’t just serve us a forgettable bean salad and call it a day. You can’t maintain a 4 with that kind of behaviour, same problem with the olives. We love olives, but where’s the good stuff that’s supposed to come with it? Last time we were here, everything went with everything else, but this time, even though we were ordering off a set banquet menu, everything seemed so disjointed, the meal didn’t gel together like some kind of cohesive whole.
