Roast pumpkin with peas and pomegranate
It’s Saturday lunchtime, and we’re looking for somewhere to eat. The first 3 places we see are all completely full. Right next door is lucky number four, Damascus. And it’s totally empty. This normally doesn’t bode well. But Damascus isn’t normal. It’s extraordinary. An out-of-nowhere flavour powerhouse, we are huge fans.
We often gravitate towards a fried cauliflower, but this one was totally different. It wasn’t battered but instead just covered in sumac. It was crispy and really tasty with a superb dipping sauce. The pumpkin was a gamechanger. The bed of goodies it sat on, which was not just peas and pomegranate, was a whole symphony of delicious things, the names for which we can’t remember. We were truly blown away.
