Churrasco Premium
Wildfire is a Brazilian steakhouse, which is a buffet in the sense that you eat all you want, but they bring it to your table and you take what you like. There’s lots of different types of meat served on big long skewers being carried around, along with a variety of sides, and a few sauces. As we’ve described previously at Gengys, buffets are a rip unless you go totally ham. This felt particularly true at Wildfire where the Churrasco Premium was over $100. The quality was definitely better than Gengys, but for $105 you’d better be swinging for the fences.
Over the course of the evening we tasted 18 different items. We’re not going to talk about them all, but the highs and the lows deserve mention. The polenta chips were among the best we’ve ever had. Even when we were pretty damn full, the Fee-Rex was asking for more. Amongst all the fancy cuts of meat, the humble pork sausage was our favourite. The prawns were also top notch. And the wee cheesy bread balls that came out first thing were sensational. The worst offerings were the lamb rack, which was one of their extra fancy premium-only options, and the “roast” potatoes. The potatoes in particular were a huge let down. If they were roast at all, it was for five minutes. They were more like oily boiled potatoes, with the occasional under-done surprise mouthful.
The service was attentive and friendly, although the guy who served us blue steak without warning had best check himself. Bookings recommended.
