Did you think we wouldn’t work this out? Upon seeing 1852, we immediately thought it was a sister of that-pub-in-Johnsonville-with-numbers-for-a-name. But then, upon some Googling, there was no apparent link. It wasn’t until we were in the belly of the beast and reading about their copy pasted proud heritage, and browsing their familiar menu, that we made the link. While we could find no actual documentation that these restaurants are the same, they definitely are.

1841 was awarded a 1 in 2024. Normally, a 1 doesn’t get a second chance. Tonight, through deception, they did. And they have risen to the heights of a 2. Admittedly this is a big improvement, but then it would be nigh on impossible to be worse.

We love a bargain. We had initially planned to order one pizza and some nachos, but upon hearing that it was 2-for-1 pizza night, our hands were tied. On the plus side, the pizzas were piping hot with an alright base, and the meat on the pizza was of good quality, no gristly steak here. However, the distribution of pizza sauce was uneven, with some areas of the cheese pizza getting way more than their share. Business Andy had a couple of bites of camembert that he was highly offended by, in fact he used the word ‘ghastly’.

Perhaps they will try to get a third go around, to bring themselves up to a 3. We are on high alert for 1863 lurking for us in another suburb.
