Nada Bakery is a pretty popular place, especially for a rainy Sunday lunchtime. They were doing a steady trade in both dine-in and takeaway. We can see why. The cabinet had plenty of options and almost everything looked good. Their walls were covered in pie-related accolades, and having sampled their wares these seem deserved. The pie was quite special, although the pastry top was slightly over done.

The quiche was nothing special. This happens sometimes with quiches, where all you can taste is a little bit of bacon, while the pumpkin is visible but not tasteable. Is it that they haven’t roasted the pumpkin? Perhaps it just needed the addition of something else to help the pumpkin sing? A relish certainly wouldn’t have gone astray.

Danishes are one of God’s special tasty treats, and this one didn’t disappoint. Unconventionally they also offered a pineapple Danish, which we don’t think we’ve ever seen before. The carrot cake was trying hard, and they’d made real effort to jam pack it with nuts and fruit. They’d even gone to the effort to split it in 3 and ice between the layers. Unfortunately, this was their downfall. The icing was incredibly sweet, sickly even. We had assumed it was a cream cheese icing based on the look, but to taste there was little, or perhaps no cream cheese actually present. Unfortunately all the sugar ruined the whole thing and left you with that cloying quality on the back of your palate where you were just searching for water.

Speaking of, we saw that one other dine-in table had a bottle of water, but heaven knows where they got that. The ambiance wasn’t great - this place is definitely more of a bakery than a cafe. And half of the Fee-Rex’s chair was covered in dirt like it had been stacked up outside. But despite a few issues, we’d be very happy to try more of what Nada Bakery has to offer.
