Chicking, remove your crown, you are being dethroned. You can’t give us food like that and expect to still occupy the throne.
Beyond the food, the ambiance was abysmal. The place was filthy - we arrived at 5.30, the place was not busy yet somehow the tables were covered in crumbs and the floor was covered in debris including two white feathers - we’d be concerned but after eating that meal there’s no way the chicken was that fresh. The table had been pushed so it had made holes in the filthy wall. There were plenty of flies to boot.
If the place was empty, how come we had to wait 15-20 minutes and the food wasn’t even fresh? In the time we were waiting they served 2 or 3 takeaway customers, but they were far from busy and had four visible members of staff. The chips were old as the hills, and the popcorn chicken was older than the hills. The burger was luke warm, but at least the chicken inside was fresh. The tandoori bites were also fresh, but the outside was floppy rather than crispy. The BBQ double toastie was a tonne of meat, real heart attack stuff, but was one of the less offensive items overall.
The clear winner was the mash, which we would have again (better than KFC). Shame it didn’t come with a spoon, so you only had the option to dip your flaccid chips into it. Easily the most offensive item was the onion rings. For a start, $6.50 was their standard price for 6 onion rings. As we were purchasing with other items, we earned the “hot steal” deal, 6 for $5. The picture on the menu showed beer battered, happy looking rings. What we got was big, sweet, sad, stale composite onion rings worth 20c at best.
