The best part about our experience at Jack Hackett’s was undoubtedly the live music. We are certainly not always fans of live music in bars/restaurants. Sometimes the music is just plain bad, at other times they’re just oppressively loud, and sometimes it just doesn’t work. But this was spot on. Music volume very clearly audible but you could still hold a conversation, she had a great voice, and the songs were familiar bangers all the way down (except Heart of Glass, sorry not sorry, Blondie).

The food wasn’t on par with the music. We made the very traditional order of steak, eggs and chips as it was $20 steak Wednesdays and we love a bargain. The cook on the steak was as we had requested, and the quality of the meat was reasonable for that cut. The eggs were a bit underdone with some raw albumin glooping about. The chips were mediocre and came with a watery aioli.

The jackfruit burger had highs and lows. The jackfruit itself was great, juicy and flavourful, somebody could trick you into thinking it was pulled meat. The coleslaw in the burger was neutral, not offensive but not notably good. The BBQ sauce was similarly mediocre. The bun was insanely dry, just a cheap hamburger bun that was past its best by date.
