Degustation
Hillside Kitchen is all about locally grown this, sustainable that, organic the other. That’s all well and good, as long as the food delivers. And oh boy, did it deliver. This was a 10 course vegetarian degustation, and absolutely everything was made with great care, skill, and a little bit of style.
The ingredients were unusual to say the least. Every dish had at least one ingredient we’d never heard of, including a lot of NZ native produce. They managed to turn some of our least favourite vegetables into standout dishes, which we feel is the mark of a truly great restaurant.
