Breakers

We ate dinner here in November 2021.

Chicken tender burger with chips Thai beef salad

We don’t want to say that Business Andy had a privileged upbringing. But this is his first time ever going to a Breakers. You do the maths.

Breakers is still a very safe place to bring children, tables of rowdy teens and people with unadventurous tastes. The place had kids running about, was very loud, and the menu was full of safe bets.

The burger had some issues. Construction wise it was almost falling over when it came out, requiring a rebuild before eating. The skewer wasn’t even through the meat! The crispy chicken coating was so crisp we thought it was either gravel or plastic on first bite. They’d gone overboard with the tomato - 4 slices! The ‘aioli’ in the burger turned out to just be cheap mayonnaise, and the bun was approaching stale.

The salad was better. The meat wasn’t gristly, and was only slightly overdone which frankly is better than average for beef strips in a salad. The dressing was tasty and they had lots of crispy noodles which was greatly appreciated. However, some of the lettuce leaves were too big, and there was a layer of ginormous thick cucumber slices, which had been cut diagonally rather than perpendicular They were like frisbees and one came out every time you put your fork in.
