Pita Pit

We ate lunch here in October 2021.

Feta & quinoa pita
Greek lamb pizza

We are Pita Pit novices. While the concept is simple (essentially Subway but with pitas instead of bread), we were ill-prepared and found ourselves panicked in the salad and sauce selection process. The pita wasn’t very enjoyable, and it’s difficult to know how much of that was our own fault. Were the salads and sauces we selected (fresh capsicum, carrot, beetroot, lettuce, grilled mushroom, cheddar cheese, hummus) a bad blend to accompany the feta & quinoa rosti, or was this pita always destined to be on the flavourless side, regardless of what we did? The Greek lamb pizza, which did not rely on our blundering choices, was great. The flavours worked well together, the lamb was tender, the roast capsicum yummy, and the thin pita base enjoyable. The stringy mozzarella caused some topping loss, which was a shame, but was the only blemish on an otherwise great pizza.

Pita Pit offers both dine-in and takeaway, but they’re not straining themselves to make dine-in an enjoyable experience. We were given one serviette to share between us, and no plate to catch the inevitable detritus from the meal. Perhaps Pita Pit think that they are creating less work for themselves by providing the bare minimum. This is clearly a false economy, as it causes messy food bits to be dropped all over the table, and with serviettes at a premium we naturally prioritised our own hands and faces over cleaning the table.
