Spring Patisserie & Cafe

We ate lunch here in September 2021.
Savoury scone
Chicken stack
Chocolate cheesecake
When we first walked into the Spring Patisserie, we thought it didn’t look much like a patisserie. There were far too many pies and sandwiches in the cabinet, and not enough tartes and choux pastry. Are those things in the pie warmer actually delicate cakes that just look like pies and sausage rolls? The food only raised more questions.
Why was the savoury scone so sweet? Why was the ham all in one chunk and not mixed throughout? That’s not how they make them in Paris. The chicken stack also lacked Parisian flair. For some reason they put a huge thick and solid layer of carrot up top, so when you try to put a fork into it or a knife through it, the innards just smooshed out everywhere. To make matters worse, the chicken was in giant unappetising chunks, and there was far too much mozzarella. In fact any quantity of mozzarella is far too much in a dish such as this, it’s a really bland cheese for a start, and when was the last time anyone wanted mozzarella on something that has to be eaten with a knife and fork? A real patisserie wouldn’t have made these mistakes. J’Accuse! Spring Patisserie is not a real patisserie at all. You, sir, are a plain Jane kiwi bakery, and not a very good one at that.
La cheesecake, tres catastrophique. Sorry, forgot you weren’t a patisserie. The cheesecake sucked.
