Fish and chips
Hash brown breakfast
LA Bakery is a throwback to a time when almost everything had to come with chips. Lots of chips, and a fried egg on top. Both meals were huge and cheap. The hash brown breakfast involved hash browns, a massive deep fried sausage, streaky bacon, and two pieces of dollar loaf with a fried egg on each. A lot of food for $14.90, cost of ingredients: $4.10 by our estimation. The fish was so bad that we, card carrying members of the clean plates club, left more than half of it behind. It was probably caught some time last year, and had been battered in house by someone who had only heard a rough description of what battering was. The batter had split open in the cooking process exposing the fish directly to the oil with predictable results. Inedible.
