The Bees Knees has a real fussy old lady vibe. Not a surface is wasted, with old fashioned teacups cluttered amongst preserves, packaged homemade biscuits and greeting cards for sale. This is a small cafe with tiny tables crammed close together, it’s honestly a bit claustrophobic. The food was a disappointment. The macaroni cheese was incredibly bland, consisting only of a basic white sauce with macaroni in it and cheese on top. Perhaps their kitchen was too cluttered with granny junk for them to locate their salt, pepper, mustard, paprika, or anything else that might have made this meal not taste like pasty nothing. The nachos were no better, with watery mince and not enough cheese. The meals were small, which we were grateful of given the taste. They were at least affordably priced. In a surprising twist, the banana smoothie was the best we’ve had in some time.
