Little India

Rating: 3

We ate dinner here in May 2021.

Butter chicken with rice and paneer garlic kulcha
Paneer shimia mirch with rice and plain naan

The food at Little India is excellent. The butter chicken was delicate, and the paneer shimia mirch was unusual but very tasty. If we were only reviewing the food their rating might be higher, but we’re reviewing the entire dining experience. They didn’t get off to a good start when they forgot our reservation, although they did manage to put an extra seat at a spare table. Shortly after sitting down, we started coughing, and then other patrons joined in. Something akin to mustard gas had been released from the kitchen. We thought they were trying to teach us about trench warfare, but the waitress assured us that it was the result of cooking an “Indian hot” curry. This was clearly untrue as there was visible smoke coming from the kitchen at some points. They continued to wage chemical warfare against us and all the other poor G.I’s in the restaurant throughout the evening. They also forgot to bring out the one drink that was ordered at our table. Perhaps foreshadowing the wait for our meals, the drink showed up over twenty minutes later, and our food took over an hour to arrive. Complimentary poppadoms were provided, but these only arrived right before our meals, almost like an afterthought. We would have preferred gasmasks.
